A woman was arrested after she allegedly brandished a gun at South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy in a church parking lot last night, police reported today. Gowdy had been waiting for his daughter when Gloria Yvonne Brackett, 52, allegedly pointed a gun at him and told him to "stop following her," the police report said. Gowdy said he wasn’t, and after a bit more argument, threw his car into reverse, Politico reports.
Brackett allegedly chased his car on foot, but Gowdy drove straight to the police, who then escorted him back to the church to pick up his daughter. Brackett was arrested on charges of carrying a weapon illegally. Gowdy's office released a statement thanking "the Spartanburg Public Safety Department for their help last night and especially for helping make sure his daughter was safe." (More Trey Gowdy stories.)
