Chile Releases Video of Trapped Miners

The 33 miners trapped underground in Chile seem slim but healthy and hopeful in a five-minute video released by the Chilean government. The men—who now know they could be underground until Christmas—sing the Chilean national anthem and shout "long live Chile, and long live the miners!" A miner takes the camera around the 600-square-foot shelter, showing where the men eat, sleep, and pray.

"We meet here everyday," the miner says at a table where the men play cards. "We plan, we have assemblies here every day so that all the decisions we make are based on the thoughts of all 33." The company that hired the miners says it is nearly bankrupt and can't afford to pay the men's salaries while they are underground, but a Chilean judge has frozen $1.8 million of the mine's revenue to ensure the miners can be compensated for their ordeal, the AP reports.
