OJ Simpson paid off a key witness to alter his testimony at the ex-NFL star's Las Vegas trial, according to court testimony today. An investigator accused Alfred Beardsley, a memorabilia dealer and convicted felon, of changing his testimony for a Hall of Fame ring. The claim was made in a Santa Monica, Calif. hearing to have the ring given to the Goldman family, as part of a civil judgment against Simpson.

On the stand today, Beardsley pleaded the fifth amendment when asked about the alleged bribe, the Los Angeles Times reports. His attorney later said Beardsley would not return next week with the ring as the judge had ordered. "You can't turn over what you don't have," he said.
