A 17-year-old hunter in southeast Georgia was killed after another member of his hunting party made a tragic mistake, authorities say. The Glynn County Police Department says Bobby Lee Lane was in heavy foliage Saturday when he was shot by fellow hunter Hector Romero, who had mistaken him for a deer, CNN reports. Police say Romero helped bring Lane to a convenience store where they were met by first responders, but the teen succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, reports ABC. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is assisting police with their investigation. Authorities say deer hunters at this time of year should only be using bows, with the firearms deer hunting season beginning Oct. 19. (These hunters pay to shoot lions in captivity.)
