They were newlyweds from Illinois taking in a night of St. Louis Cardinals baseball, but it ended with one of them dead and the other behind bars. Bradley Jenkins, 30, has been charged with third-degree domestic assault after cops got a 911 call about a woman falling off a parking garage near Busch Stadium and found the body of his wife, Allissa Martin, 27, early Sunday on the parking garage's ramp. Court documents note that police encountered Jenkins standing over Martin, "agitated" and apparently drunk, court documents say, per the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. A probable cause statement notes that Jenkins told Detective Mark West that he and Martin, both workers for the Illinois Department of Corrections, hadn't gotten physical with each other and that he hadn't even been on the parking garage's roof with her, though he conceded they'd been quarreling during the game.
What busted open the story from Jenkins, who says he and Martin were married May 22 in Las Vegas: Martin's cellphone, which police say was found on the parking garage's seventh floor with its camera still turned on. West notes in the probable cause statement that the tape showed Martin "pointing the camera toward herself," then toward Jenkins. "They were arguing," West says, with the statement adding she then pleaded with Jenkins to stop punching her in the face; the phone then fell out of her hands. "Shortly after that, you hear her scream as she falls," West says, making note of Jenkins' "several lies." Charges against Jenkins may still be upgraded to homicide, per KTVI. He's being held on $100,000 cash-only bail. An autopsy for Martin is scheduled. (A nurse practitioner died soon after she was found frozen under a car in a Wisconsin parking garage.)
