The man who opened fire in a suburban Denver Walmart Wednesday evening, killing three people, appears to have chosen his victims at random, witnesses say. Police in Thornton say witnesses have told them the man "nonchalantly" walked into the store and begin firing a handgun at people near the cash registers, KMGH reports.

Two men died at the scene and a female victim died at a Denver hospital. "This is a very heinous act," a police spokesman says. "We don't know exactly what the motive of the person was, but it was certainly a terrible act." Police say the suspect, who drove off in a red four-door Mitsubishi Mirage, is still at large, ABC News reports. (More Colorado stories.)
