Suzy Goodwin, 35, ran the Fayetteville, North Carolina, Halloween Half Marathon on Sunday in 2 hours, 1 minute, and 19 seconds—a respectable time by any measure. But Goodwin wasn't just running a regular race, Good Morning America reports. She was also pushing 120 pounds in front of her: her 14-month-old triplets in a wheeled stroller. Her time will likely be recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the fastest-ever half-marathon while pushing a triple-stroller—because it will also be the first-ever documented time in such an event. "A triple stroller record is just obscure enough," said Goodwin, by way of explanation. "There are people I’m sure who will come along and break it, but in the spirit of camaraderie, I hope they do."
Goodwin is an accomplished runner who has completed marathons in 42 out of the 50 states. She says she was inspired to try and set the world record after discovering the babies enjoyed being pushed in the stroller during her runs—though GMA notes that they did require "pacifiers, crackers, and entertainment" during the half-marathon. The Salisbury Post says one of Goodwin's biggest challenges was finding a long-distance race that actually allowed strollers on the race course. Goodwin used her unusual race as a way to raise funds for the local hospital's neonatal intensive care unit, where her triplets spent the first 10 weeks of their lives. (More uplifting news stories.)
