China has thwarted two terror attacks, a top official revealed today, including an attempted plane hijacking on Friday and a January raid that captured and killed terrorists aiming to "sabotage" the Beijing Olympics, reports CNN. Both incidents were linked to regional separatists whose “goal was very clear,” according to the AP.

On Jan. 27, police arrested 15 and killed two members of a terrorist group that China says has been its chief terror threat for years, despite having only a few dozen members. With the Olympics set for August, China has cracked down on terrorism, calling it the top risk for the games. Still, experts say tight government oversight minimizes danger. (More China stories.)
