The gay-marriage question before the Supreme Court isn't the only court case involving homosexuals making headlines. This one's a little less weighty, though: In Nebraska, a woman has filed a federal lawsuit against all gay people because she believes them to be sinners. In her seven-page petition written in the form of a letter, in cursive, on ruled paper, 66-year-old Sylvia Driskell of Auburn calls herself an "ambassador for the Plaintiffs: God, and his Son, Jesus Christ." She asks a federal judge in Omaha to rule on whether homosexuality is a sin, reports the Omaha World-Herald.
Driskell thinks it is, based on the Bible, and quotes several verses that she claims back up that belief (she also quotes the Webster Dictionary definitions of "sin," "marry," and "parents"). Further, homosexuals must know it's a sin because "why else would they have been hiding in the closet," she asks. Driskell is disappointed that her "Great Nation" and the "Great State of Nebraska" are complicit in allowing "lewd behavior," and she's representing herself, for better or worse: "Will all the judges of this nation judge God to be a lier [sic]?" she asks in the petition, as quoted in the Journal Star. (It's not the only unusual court filing of late.)
