Jack White gave Rolling Stone an earful in this month's cover story, and now he's apologizing to a good swath of the music industry, specifically the Black Keys, Meg White, Adele, and the list goes on. "I wish the band the Black Keys all the success that they can get," he says in a lengthy apology posted to his website. He dismisses earlier comments—in which he compares the Black Keys to "kids at school who dress like everybody else" and says he hears "TV commercials where the music's ripping off sounds of mine, to the point I think it's me. Half the time, it's the Black Keys"—calling the interview "shop talk" that "sounded a lot more negative than it was meant to."
In his apology, he says that "through the actions of lawyers trying to villainize me in a private legal scenario (White's divorce from Karen Elson), my private letters were made public for reasons I still don’t understand." He also includes Danger Mouse and former bandmate Meg White in his apology, adding, "I wish no slight to the talents of Winehouse, Duffy, Lana del Rey, and Adele."
