It is accepted fact that holding a puppy can get a guy on most girls' warm and fuzzy side. This accepted fact does not, however, appear to carry over to the realm of Taser-wielding cops in New Mexico, reports KOAT-TV. As Eppie Cruz Montoya tells it, he was innocently trying to buy his pregnant girlfriend a drink while holding his puppy; the store manager told him the pet wasn't allowed and to take down his hooded sweatshirt. Montoya refused, cop Danny Pacheco was on hand, one thing led to another, Pacheco tased Montoya, and the puppy fell to the ground, people.
Now Montoya is suing, reports the AP, alleging excessive force. "He was bullying me," he says. In Pacheco's telling, vis a vis the police report, Montoya was yelling and refusing to obey; he was charged with disorderly conduct, but those charges were later dropped. The town's police chief says he's investigating. (More Taser stories.)
