A Florida woman is facing murder charges in a slaying that she suggested was partially motivated by the biblical story of Abraham and Isaac, authorities say. Kimberly Lucas, 40, allegedly killed her ex-partner's 2-year-old daughter, and then unsuccessfully tried to kill both the girl's 10-year-old brother and herself, WPTV reports. A note on Lucas' computer referenced a sermon she attended Sunday that spoke of the Abraham story, saying it "really, really touched me yesterday but God never told me to stop!"
Another part of the note, however, lays blame for the incident on Lucas' ex-partner, Jacquelyn Jamason, the girl's mother, with lines like, "In YOUR WORDS 'WHEN YOU ARE LAYING IN BED AT NIGHT REMEMBER YOU (EXPLETIVE) DID THIS TO YOURSELF!'" Lucas and others say she was like a second mother to the children, who have the last name "Lucas-Jamason," the Palm Beach Post reports. A church board member said he was shocked by Lucas' note. "It just is really the writing of someone who is really disturbed, very broken." (More Kimberly Lucas stories.)
