John McCain's strong Super Tuesday showing has left him looking like a sure thing to win the Republican nomination, but Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney are staying in the race and hoping for a change, the Wall Street Journal reports. "Once you're out of the race, you're out. But if you stay in, you have a chance to put something together," a Republican noted.

Romney and Huckabee have been openly hostile to each other but they share a desire to stop McCain's momentum. Commentators note that the pair have split the conservative vote, which could have won some tight races if it had been united. Things could still change before convention time, but "you wouldn't want to mortgage your house and bet on that happening," a prominent conservative said. (More John McCain stories.)
