Texas police are baffled by the death of one of the country's most powerful white supremacists. Frank E. Roch Jr., leader of the biggest faction of the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas prison gang, was found dying slumped in a crashed pickup truck, reports the Houston Chronicle. The cause of death has not yet been determined. The heavily tattooed 54-year-old was carrying so many different IDs that it took police hours to figure out who he really was.
Roch, who was most recently in prison in 2009, commanded an estimated 1,500 gang members inside and outside of prison, and held sway over many more associates and supporters, law enforcement officials say. "Everybody knows who this guy was," says a state law enforcement officer. "His loss has created a major disturbance in this gang." Another leading neo-Nazi was shot dead in California earlier this year. Jeff Hall's 10-year-old son was charged with the killing. (More Aryan Nation stories.)
