They're not calling for his resignation—yet—but top House Democrats have made it clear they're not happy with Rep. Anthony Weiner's shenanigans. Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi says the congressman, who has come clean about his crotch shot and "inappropriate chats" with women online, must face an Ethics Committee inquiry "to determine whether any official resources were used or any other violation of House rules occurred," Politico reports.
Rep. Steve Israel, the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, backed Pelosi's call for an investigation. Weiner "engaged in a deep personal failure and inappropriate behavior that embarrassed himself, his family, and the House," he said. "Ultimately, Anthony and his constituents will make a judgment about his future." Democratic insiders say Weiner, who denies breaking any laws or ethics rules, spoke to Pelosi and Israel before his press conference yesterday, but refused to even consider resignation.
