Anthony Weiner didn't even have to look outside his own state for an example of what happens to horny congressmen caught cruising for women online, so how could he have been so stupid? It's all about power, according to marriage and family therapist Bethany Marshall. "Adults, particularly those in positions of power like politicians, sext because they want even more power," she tells ABC.
Men like Weiner and Chris Lee "want reassurance, they want the sexual stimulation, they want to think of themselves as sexually desirable," Marshall says, adding that while Weiner may be the first politician busted for tweeting crotch shots, sexting has its roots in age-old behaviors. "Basically, people are engaging in the same fantasies and behaviors that they always have," she says. "But now they have the technology to back it up." (More Weinergate stories.)
