Woman Who Made Rape Allegations Flees Libya

The Libyan woman who drew international attention with rape allegations against Moammar Gadhafi's "thugs" has fled the country, reports CNN. Iman al-Obeidi crossed into Tunisia with a defecting military officer from Libya. European diplomats drove her from the border to Tunis and gave her sanctuary while she figures out her next move. "I still do not know what I am going to do," said al-Obeidi. Of course I'd like to see my family."

Al-Obeidi burst into a hotel where international reporters were situated in March to say that she had been detained for two days and beaten and raped by 15 men.
