The Irish will tell you that a pint of Guinness tastes better in Ireland than anywhere else in the world, and it turns out, you should believe them. The Institute of Food Technologists recently carried out a massive taste test in 33 cities across 14 countries to see where the black stuff tasted the best. In Ireland, the "non-expert" testers gave Guinness an average score of 74 out of 100, compared to 57 everywhere else in the world.
Beer author Pete Brown tells the Daily Mail that there are lots of reasons a beer could taste better in the isle of Éire. "Locals tend to know their own beer inside out, so you'll get it at the right temperature, in the right glass, and with the right head. That's really important," he says. Having a pint in an Irish pub "marks the end of a pilgrimage for real Guinness lovers for sure." (More Guinness stories.)
