Is this even news anymore? In what’s begun to feel a little like a tradition, Brett Favre announced that he was retiring after his team’s final game of the season last night—and this time, he means it! “I know it’s time, and that’s OK. It is,” Favre said, according to ESPN. “Again, I hold no regrets.” (Really? Not even this?)

Favre sat on the sidelines during the Vikings’ 20-13 defeat, having failed to pass the tests necessary to return from a concussion. It was an ugly end to an ugly season, in which Favre ended his 297 consecutive starts streak, and had a 69.9 quarterback rating, a career low. “One game, one season does not define me,” Favre said. “There’ll be people who say, ‘it was a shame he went out that way.’ I am truly grateful for the opportunity.” Next up: Dancing with the Stars?
