Two men have been arrested for attempted blackmail of a member of the British royal family who was threatened with exposure of a videotape allegedly showing a sex act, according to Scotland Yard officials. Authorities would not reveal the identity of the target, who was told to pay $100,000 to keep the video secret. The men also claimed to have evidence that their target provided cocaine to an aide.
The member of the royal family informed Scotland Yard of the plot in August and officers set up a sting to trap the men, reports the Times of London. The two were arrested as they showed a tape to an undercover detective they believed was a member of the royal staff. The judge has issued a gag order in the case. (More royalty stories.)
