Here's an odd bit of international relations: An American charity has paid a British heroin addict to undergo a vasectomy. The group, called Project Prevention, paid the man about $315 dollars in the hope of preventing him from passing his addiction on to the next generation. The man, John, said he'd been thinking about the operation for a while, but the money "spurred" him to act, reports the Telegraph.
"It was something that I'd been thinking about for a long time and something that I'd already made my mind up that I wanted to do. Just hadn't got around to it," says the 38-year-old. Project Prevention's efforts across the pond come after they paid some 3,500 American men and women addicted to drugs or alcohol to undergo sterilization. A local charity called their approach "morally reprehensible." (In other news, click here to find out why love is actually an 'addiction.')
