The argument against the Park51 project—the so-called Ground Zero mosque—hinges on the idea that an Islamic symbol near the site of the 9/11 attacks is offensive to the families of the victims. One of the loudest voices opposing the project has been Glenn Beck, writes Cenk Uygur for the Huffington Post, but the Fox talking head has also been tremendously offensive to the victims' families. He said during a 2005 program that he "hated" them and was "so sick of them" because they are "always complaining."
So if the Cordoba Initiative is unwelcome at or near Ground Zero, Beck should be, too, Cenk writes. "The Park51 Project is actually trying to heal wounds, spread a moderate form of Islam and reach out to everyone in the community. And they certainly have never said anything nearly as offensive about the 9/11 victims or their families as Beck has."
