WikiLeaks Wants Pentagon Help Scrubbing Docs

WikiLeaks—apparently heeding warnings it may have blood on its hands because of leaked Afghan documents—wants the Pentagon's help in scrubbing names from its next batch. The site has held back 15,000 more classified reports and it wants defense officials to help review them so they can be safely published, WikiLeaks spokesman Daniel Schmitt tells the Daily Beast.

Schmitt says it's "very harsh" to be told that people may come to harm because of the earlier leak, adding that the site hasn't heard about any informants being killed. WikiLeaks says it asked for the US military's assistance in redacting names from the earlier leak, a claim the Pentagon says is completely false. A Pentagon spokesman also denies that the military has heard from WikiLeaks about the latest batch of documents, AFP reports.
