Sarah Palin is writing on her hand again, this time so she can remember a tax hike number while she skewers the Democrats on Fox TV. She lambasted President Obama's move to let the Bush administration's tax cuts for the rich expire at the end of the year, and claimed that therefore the Democrats were planning trillions of dollars in tax hikes. When asked what she had written on her palm by Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace, Palin responded: "$3.8 trillion in the next 10 years, so I didn't say $3.7 trillion and then get dinged by the liberals saying I didn't know what I was talkin' about."
Writing the number on her palm certainly shoots that argument all to hell. She couldn't go into specifics because "my palm isn't large enough to have written all my notes down on what this tax increase, what it will result in," she explained. Ruth Marcus of the Washington Post responded to Palin in her column: "Sorry, you don't know what you're talking about," and ripped the former governor's comparison of a massive tax hike to dropping a tax cut for the wealthy.
