The White House today implored WikiLeaks to stop posting secret Afghanistan war documents as the Pentagon brought the soldier suspected of leaking the information back to the US for trial in another case. "I think it's important that no more damage be done to our national security," Robert Gibbs said in the Today show this morning. Yesterday, US officials said the website already may have "blood" on its hands.
The Pentagon inquiry has been looking most closely at Pvt. Bradley Manning, an Army intelligence specialist who already has been charged with leaking a helicopter video from Iraq to WikiLeaks. Manning, 22, has been moved from Kuwait to Quantico Marine Base in Virginia, where he will be held while awaiting trial on charges stemming from the posting of the video. (More WikiLeaks stories.)
