Celebrity / Lindsay Lohan Lay Off Lindsay Lohan Instead of laughing, hope she gets help By John Johnson, Newser Staff Posted Jul 21, 2010 2:49 PM CDT Copied Lindsay Lohan listens during a court hearing Tuesday, July 20, 2010, in Beverly Hills, Calif., where she was taken into custody. (AP Photo/ Al Seib, pool) Rebecca Macatee has two things in common with Lindsay Lohan: She's 24, and she once took a tumble on the sidewalk after a little too much bubbly with friends. Big difference: the paparazzi weren't watching. "I didn't star in a feature film when I was 11 years old, or support my family financially before I'd even hit puberty," writes Macatee in the Wall Street Journal. "I don't have a father who talks publicly about my intimate struggles in order to make a few bucks." And the tabs don't stalk her 24/7 to revel in her every mistake. This is not to excuse Lohan's legal misdeeds or place her above the law. "But eating disorders, alcoholism, drug addiction and apparent psychological illness should not be laughed at by the American public. Since I can't guarantee that I wouldn't have succumbed to similar demons had I lived a life like Ms. Lohan's, I won't gawk at her condition, and I will root for her to get the help she desperately needs."
