Woman Gets 9 Years for Sex With Son She Gave Up

A Detroit area woman was sentenced to 9 to 30 years in prison for having sex with the 14-year-old son she gave up for adoption as an infant. Aimee L. Sword, 36, tracked down the boy on Facebook and the two soon had sex in a hotel room and area homes. “When she saw this boy, it wasn’t a mother-son relationship, it was a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship,” her attorney told the Detroit Free Press. “Aimee’s searching for a reason why this happened. She can’t understand it. She’s going to get some counseling.”

Sword apologized in court. She was married at the time with 5 children. The boy eventually discussed the sex with a counselor, who alerted police. The prosecutor called it a "very tragic case," and said he was "concerned for this young boy and what it may have done to his psyche and his future." (More Aimee L. Sword stories.)
