Children’s book author K.P. Bath was sentenced to 6 years in federal prison yesterday after pleading guilty to two counts of possessing child pornography. Investigators discovered a huge cache of disturbing images and videos in Bath’s Portland, Ore., home, many of which “graphically depicted the sexual abuse of very young children,” according to the US attorney’s office. That included sadomasochism, bestiality, and rape.
The 51-year-old is best known as the author of the “Castle Cant” series. He also worked for the Asian Reporter newspaper and volunteered at a children’s library. Investigators say they also have evidence he traded child porn with two other collectors, but charges of transporting, distributing, and receiving child porn were dropped as part of his plea deal, CNN reports.
