Undertakers Want to Flush Your Corpse

Researchers in Belgium want to flush you down the toilet. A group of undertakers say dead people ought to be dissolved, flushed, and sent to water treatment plants—all in the name of eco-efficiency. They tell the Telegraph that the procedure, which is being studied by the EU, beats cremation and burial, hands down. Odd? Yes, but certainly not unheard of—the method is already legal in six American states. Consider it the revenge of the goldfish.

"The idea is for the deceased to be placed in a container with water and salts and then pressurized and after a little time, about two hours, mineral ash and liquid is left over," says a rep for the undertakers' association. Click here to read about another doozy of a green burial method.
