Did President Obama's slam against Arizona's immigration law make the governor quake in her boots? Hardly. "Do your job. Secure the border," Gov. Jan Brewer shot back at the president in a speech to a Republican group. Brewer pledged to "defend this law against every assault, including attacks by the Obama administration," CNN reports. Obama ripped Arizona's crackdown down on illegal immigrants as "fanning the flames of an already contentious debate" yesterday in a speech calling for bipartisan immigration reform.

He said the law pressures cops to police "unenforceable" laws, threatens to violate the rights of legal residents, and that rounding up every illegal resident would "tear the fabric of the nation." But he also called for 11 million illegal residents who have broken the law to be "held accountable." They must "get right with the law before they can get in line and earn their citizenship," he said.
