Cyprus authorities are conducting a manhunt for a member of a suspected Russian spy ring after he skipped bail, the Guardian reports. Christopher Metsos, whose flight to Cyprus triggered the FBI's arrest of the suspected espionage ring, had been arrested by local police yesterday but released after he posted a $25,000 bail. Although he agreed to make daily check-ins at a police station, authorities now suspect he fled immediately after his release.
From Cyprus, Metsos would be able to travel quickly to Turkey or Syria. "An arrest warrant has been issued and if found he will be arrested immediately," said an officer at the police station in Larnaka, Cyprus. "He has broken his pledge to be here." Undercover agents just can't be trusted these days, apparently.
