A 6.5-magnitude quake in southern Mexico early this morning shook buildings as far away as Mexico City. The epicenter of the earthquake, which struck at 2:22 am local time, was 75 miles west-southwest of Oaxaca City. So far, no casualties, injuries or damaged buildings have been reported, but calls to hotels in the Oaxaca region are not being answered. In Mexico City, 220 miles away, people fled their houses in pajamas, MSNBC reports.
