World | Iran Cleric Defends 'Boobquake' Sermon God just doesn't bother with the heathen West, Iranian insists By Kevin Spak Posted May 14, 2010 1:55 PM CDT Copied In this photo taken Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, file photo, Iranian cleric Kazem Sedighi delivers Friday prayers sermons, at the Tehran University campus in Tehran, Iran. (AP Photo/Vahid Salemi) Take notes, Iranians: Dressing immodestly really will cause earthquakes and bring God's wrath upon you—but only if you're from a pious place like Iran. If you live in the heathen West, God will just let you sin, and you'll go to hell. That's the bulletproof logic Iranian cleric Kazem Sedighi brought to Tehran's weekly prayer today, defending a much-derided earlier sermon that inspired the “boobquake” experiment. “Some ask why earthquakes don't occur in the Western world, which suffers from the slime of homosexuality, the slime of promiscuity,” he said. “Sometimes, God tests a nation. (He says) if believers sin, We slap them because We love them. ... And those who provoked God's wrath, He allows them to (sin) so that they go to the bottom of hell.” Iran also happens, scientifically speaking, to be extremely earthquake prone, according to the AP.
