Picture Emma Watson, the charming English girl who plays Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, walking into her first college frat party. Seems like a scene out of a movie—and that’s how she felt about it, too. “I felt like I'd walked into an American teen movie. I picked up the red cups. I was like, Wow, they really do drink from these,” she tells Vanity Fair in a look at her first days at Brown.
At first she thought “it was just awful.” But after meeting a roommate and friends who didn’t care about her fame—and, reportedly, a hot Spanish boyfriend—she finally settled in. Oddly enough, in addition to courses on European women’s history and Ovid’s Metamorphoses, the woman who’s been acting since childhood is taking…an acting class. It’s a guaranteed A, right? Not so: “I think actually I'm the worst person in the class.”
