Clues continue to emerge in last night's failed Times Square car bombing, with surveillance video showing a 40-something white man leaving the scene. The owner of the explosives-packed Nissan Pathfinder has been identified but not named publicly, reports the New York Times. "In my judgment, it would have caused casualties, a significant fireball," police commissioner Ray Kelly said at a press conference this afternoon. "I’m told the vehicle itself would have been cut in half."

Kelly dismissed the Pakistani Taliban's claim of responsibility but emphasized that investigators have not ruled out any possible motives, reports ABC News. "Clearly it was the intent of whoever did this to cause mayhem and create casualties," he said. "It was just a sober reminder that New York is clearly a target of people who want to come here and do us harm."
