Devoted Christians are hard to find among young adults: a new survey found that 72% of 18- to 29-year-olds describe themselves as "more spiritual than religious." Though 65% describe themselves as Christian, most never or rarely go to church, pray with others, or read the Bible. While Christianity remains popular, it seems that today's young Christians interpret the requirements of their faith loosely.

"We have dumbed down what it means to be part of the church so much that it means almost nothing, even to people who already say they are part of the church," the president of the group that conducted the survey, LifeWay Christian Resources, tells USA Today. At this rate, the Millennial Generation—made up of what he dubs "mushy" Christians—"will see churches closing as quickly as GM dealerships."
