A Portuguese detective has been yanked off the investigation into toddler Madeleine McCann’s disappearance after he openly attacked his British counterparts in a newspaper interview. He accused investigators of following only leads suggested by Madeleine's parents, including one accusing a former maid of the resort where the McCanns stayed. The parents are the lead suspects in Portugal.
The same detective remains under investigation for the alleged beating of a woman to extract a confession in the disappearance of her daughter three years ago. She has since retracted the confession. The McCann’s Portuguese lawyer told one local news outlet that the detective should "talk less and work more to find the girl.” (More Madeleine McCann stories.)
