The president of a California public college where Sarah Palin is to speak is charging that the secret contract revealing her demands for a suite, a Lear jet and no audience questions was stolen. The juicy contract was revealed earlier this week by university students who said it was fished out of the trash before shredding. The dust-up over the contract, arranged by a tax-free foundation for Palin to appear at a $500-a-plate fundraiser for Cal State Stanislaus, has kicked off a state probe into how charitable funds are spent.
Palin foes have deliberately manipulated the controversy as part of "political theater," claimed Stanilaus college president Hamid Shirvan, who believes the contract was stolen and given to students. Attorney General Jerry Brown is investigating whether the foundation broke public disclosure laws by refusing requests to reveal the contract and attempting to destroy it. Palin's booking agency requires details of her contracts be kept strictly confidential. The documents released by the students revealed Palin's demands for such things as bendable straws and first-class commercial or Lear jet travel, but did not mention her fee according to the Los Angeles Times.
