Hey, birders, sick of stomping around hoping to catch a glimpse of a hummingbird in your binoculars? Then heartsick.com has just the thing for you. For the low, low price of $79.95, you get a colorful thingy that looks like a welding mask and doubles as a hummingbird feeder. Load it with some sugar water, strap it on, sit reeeally still, and a hummingbird should come to have a snack directly in front of your eyes.

Videos of the device (like the one seen here) made a splash on YouTube last fall, so the LA Times tracked down the inventor, who says he came up with the idea years ago when a hummingbird happened to fly in front of his face. “I was frozen and then I blinked and it flew away, but it was just so unique,” he says. “I always wanted to be able to share that experience with other people.” (More hummingbird stories.)
