Please, please, please, Tom Hanks, no more World War II stuff, OK? That plea is from Brian Donovan, who points out that, among Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers, and The Pacific, “it is entirely possible that Tom Hanks has spent more time making entertainment about World War II than we did fighting the ridiculous thing in the first place.”
“Tom Hanks used to be awesome. Big. Toy Story. Apollo 13. Cast Away. Splash. Yeah, I’ll say it … Turner & Hooch,” Donovan writes for True/Slant. And while, despite an excess of Dan Brown-related films as well, he’s sure Hanks still is. But, he begs, “would you please dance on a giant piano and play me some chopsticks? Please? … And if you can find a way to get Hooch involved, all the better.”
