So you can’t yet, say, drive your car via iPhone, but we’re getting close. Silicon Alley Insider takes a look at a bunch of things Apple’s gizmo can control remotely:
- TV: A $50 attachment turns the phone into a universal remote.
- DVR: With Comcast, AT&T, DirecTV and Dish Network releasing apps, set up that recording you forgot on the go.
- Home lights and alarm: If you’ve got a Schlage or CPI systems, there’s are apps for that.
- Chevy Volt: As we said, you can’t drive it with an iPhone, but you can get info on the electric car’s charge status, locks and such from OnStar.
- Your desktop computer: There are a slew of virtual network computing apps, free and otherwise, that you can use to view what’s on your PC or Mac from your phone.
