Sources say Ben Roethlisberger told police he did have some sexual contact with the Georgia woman accusing him of assault—but that the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback said there was no intercourse, and that the woman injured her head after slipping and falling. Investigators are still seeking DNA from Roethlisberger, 28, presumably to compare it to a sample they already have; one Pittsburgh attorney tells KDKA-TV the move should raise concerns with the quarterback’s defense team.
“Why does she have the bump on the head and theoretically, why do we have your DNA,” Bob Del Greco says, “and why did she come to the hospital for this matter, because if it was a consensual matter and she bumped her head, should could have certainly have gone to the hospital and said, ‘I bumped my head.’”
