The Mid-Atlantic, already reeling from this weekend’s snowstorm, is about to be hit with another blast of winter. The huge storm that closed schools from Chicago to Louisville today is set to hit Eastern states this afternoon, dropping as much as 20 inches on Washington, DC, and 18 on Philadelphia, USA Today reports.
Cities further north also will get hit, with 8 to 16 inches expected in New York and Boston. Winds will be gusting up to 40mph, creating “widespread blizzard conditions” from Washington to southern New England, according to one National Weather Service meteorologist. He predicts the storm will break many single-winter snowfall records; Baltimore needs only 2 more inches to top its old 60.4-inch mark. (More snowstorm stories.)
