Meghan McCain had some harsh words for Sarah Palin, Tom Tancredo, and the whole Tea Party movement on The View yesterday. McCain, who says she avoided the Tea Party convention because of "ideological differences," said Palin's double standard about the use of the word "retarded" is "exactly what is wrong with politics today," the Huffington Post reports.
Palin demanded Rahm Emanuel be fired for calling trouble-making Democrats "retarded," but when Rush Limbaugh used the same word apparently to refer to the same group, Palin said it was merely "satire." We "can't say Democrats can say one thing and Republicans another," said McCain. "This is what's wrong with this country now." She also slammed Tancredo's call for voters to pass literacy tests, saying such "innate racism" is what turns young people off to the Tea Party movement.
