Celebrity / Major Garrett Fox Reporter Tweets Link to Call Girl Site Major Garrett blames bit.ly for inserting site he in no way visited By Kevin Spak, Newser Staff Posted Jan 28, 2010 10:31 AM CST Copied Barack Obama, center, stands near Fox News' Major Garrett, left, in the kitchen of the Brady press briefing room at the White House, Jan. 22, 2009. (AP Photo/Manuel Balce Ceneta) Fox News White House correspondent Major Garrett accidentally posted a link to a Las Vegas hooker’s website on Twitter last night while covering the State of the Union, using one of those condensed Twitter links. He figured it out, deleted it, and apologized—but not before Gawker pounced. Later he added, “For those suckling snide syrup. I publicly acknowledged an innocent mistake and corrected it. If that’s not good enuf, take a hike.” Garrett blamed the mistake on link condensing service bit.ly, saying it “turned my original link to a soft-porn link.” Sure, that’s possible. Or maybe, just maybe, Garrett accidentally pasted a link to another site he was looking at into bit.ly. Fun fact: Barack Obama’s traveling to Las Vegas next month, meaning some press corps members will likely follow. Sorry, are we suckling snide syrup? (More Major Garrett stories.) Report an error
