Air America has gone silent just when progressives need it most, writes Ron Reagan. The Supreme Court reveals its "corporatist agenda," Massachusetts gains a shade of red, health care reform is dying, and "without doubt Rush Limbaugh is making a complete ass of himself." But because the "long-suffering" liberal radio network has gone bankrupt, "I won't be able to talk about any of this on the radio."
Air America had been in "perennial intensive care" almost from its inception in part because lefty radio is simply a tougher sell to corporate sponsors, writes Reagan at Salon. But the timing is especially bad. "These are strange days," not only for America but "progressives in particular." Even with Obama in office, nothing much has changed in DC. The only way it can is to keeping calling out "the egregious lies of the right." And for that, "progressives—and the rest of America—can use all the help we can get."
