(AP Photo/Mary Ann Chastain) The South Carolina House voted to censure Mark Sanford today over his jaunt to Argentina, in a quick and virtually unanimous vote. “Ladies and gentlemen we have lived this nightmare for over seven months,” said the author of the resolution. “It is time to put this issue behind us.” The tally was 102-11, and most of the dissenters were Democrats registering their preference for a full impeachment. It’s the first censure resolution the state has passed in 130 years, the head of the impeachment panel told the State. It carries no legal weight, though that doesn’t mean Sanford’s off the hook. The ethics commission is still investigating him, and could fine him up to $74,000. (More South Carolina stories.) Report an error
