The 2010 elections will see a big crop of political legacies trying to break into the family business. Children and grandchildren of prominent pols will appear on the ballot in gubernatorial, Senate, and House races across the country, trying to leverage their names into political dynasties, The Hill reports. Here are some political offspring to watch:
- Rory Reid, son of Harry, will find his name a mixed blessing in the Nevada governor's race: The House majority leader has high disapproval ratings in his home state.
- Rand Paul, a doctor like dad Ron, has tapped into his dad's online fundraising network in his bid for a Kentucky Senate seat.
- Robin Carnahan, daughter of late governor Mel and Senator Jean, will bring a popular name to a tight Missouri Senate race.
- Beau Biden, son of the veep, is expected to announce this month whether he'll seek his dad's old Senate seat in Delaware.
