Check Your App Two iPhone tools estimate blood alcohol level, help find a cab By Evann Gastaldo, Newser Staff Posted Dec 30, 2009 2:21 PM CST Copied In this July 21, 2009, file photo, a customer displays an Apple iPhone 3GS at an Apple store in Palo Alto, Calif. (AP Photo/Paul Sakuma, file) Going out tomorrow night to celebrate New Year’s Eve? Consider downloading two new iPhone apps first if you think you might overindulge. R-U-Buzzed and Last Call calculate the number of drinks you’ve had, your weight, and how long you’ve been drinking to determine how safe it is (or is not) for you to drive, USA Today reports. Over the limit? The applications can also help you call a cab. Though some anti-drunk-driving groups are concerned about the apps, the founder of Last Call's company says, “There is not an iPhone app that prevents people from drinking. The most responsible thing we can do is give them the tools to monitor their drinking.” The Mothers Against Drunk Driving CEO, however, would like everyone to remember: “The best practice is don't drink and drive. Period.” (More drunk driving stories.) Report an error
