To anyone who wrote off fax machines as so 1994: Turns out they're a pretty decent stand-in for a computer, at least for an 80-year-old grandmother who uses a new system developed specifically for seniors to post on Twitter—by fax. Dorothy Miller tells The Frisky the Celery system is “so much fun” and allows her to communicate much more often with her family.
Handwritten messages are faxed in and turned into tweets, Facebook posts, or emails—and when responses come in, they’re faxed back. “I don’t usually write to my daughter that much because she talks too much and then it takes up too much of my time,” Miller says. “But she can read my Twittering here and she can see what her mother’s doing and know that her mother is OK.” To watch a video of Miller, click here.
